Arlo Pate joined the ASAN team in early August 2020 as our new (and first-ever) Farmer Support Coordinator. Arlo is the first point of contact for farmers and aspiring farmers seeking support from ASAN. Arlo coordinates the Alabama CRAFT Network and they led our statewide Farmer Needs Assessment in 2020-21.

Arlo graduated as a Community Engaged Scholar from the University of North Carolina Asheville where they studied Anthropology. After school, they served two years as an AmeriCorps Member in the field of environmental sustainability and conservation with a focus in agriculture in Western North Carolina and Nashville, TN, their first home. In addition to seasonal farm work positions, they facilitated garden-based education in metro Nashville public schools and libraries through Plant the Seed, and supported urban farming projects through Hands on Nashville. For over two years, they were Farm Coordinator for Paragon Urban Farm, a refugee and immigrant-led community farm on reclaimed floodplain in South Nashville. They are honored to be part of the ASAN team!
