Host a Lawmaker on Your Farm
You don’t have to go to Washington to be heard. Some of the most powerful conversations happen right here at home, when a farmer walks their lawmaker across the land and tells them what it’s really like. ASAN will help you schedule the visit, prepare your talking points, and bring neighbors along, and we’ll be right there beside you. We also have funding to help cover the cost of stepping away from your work that day. No policy experience needed. This form takes about 5 minutes.
Get involved
You don’t need to be a policy expert to make a difference. You just need to know your farm and be willing to talk about it.
- Share your story. Tell us what’s helping your farm and what’s in the way. We’ll help you bring it to people who can do something about it.
- Host a farm visit. Open your gate to a lawmaker or candidate for an hour. We’ll handle the planning.
- Join our Policy Steering Committee. We’re looking for farmers and food system advocates from every part of the state to help set ASAN’s policy direction as we work toward forming Alabama’s first statewide food policy council. The committee meets monthly, and you don’t need any policy experience. Apply to join
