From the organizers:

The main purpose for this meeting is to share technical information and to get your advice and input for our programs.

We are interested to hear your thoughts on topics that should be brought before the group, either in the general session or afternoon session.  The agenda and a meeting reminder will follow.  In the meantime, we want to bring to your attention 2 areas where you can provide input:

  • The Farm Bill mandated that NRCS review all conservation practice standards in 2019.  Attached is an overview of this effort.  The 45 day public comment period ends on April 25, 2019.

Federal Register Notice NRCS-2019-0003, Review of USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service National Conservation Practice Standards, has been placed on public inspection at the following hyperlink below:

https://federalregister.gov/d/2019-04290

  • Selection of watersheds eligible for edge-of-field (EOF) monitoring.  To participate in EOF monitoring, State Conservationist’s must prepare a Notice of Priority Watershed Selection by April 3 of each Fiscal year.  Any watershed that has a surface water quality degradation due to excessive nutrients or excessive sediment can be considered.  The press release for last year’s selections is attached.  You can submit nominations to Ben Malone or Shannon Weaver.  Questions about this activity should be directed to Shannon Weaver or Steve Musser.

The General Session will be held from 10:00 a.m. through noon, with break-out sessions after lunch.
