From the organizers:
Joy Haven Farm is a Certified Naturally Grown family farm located in Shorter, Alabama. With a ½ acre intensive vegetable production system consisting of in-field and hoop house grown crops, Sheila Dicks provides up to 30 families fresh produce over two sessions, Spring/Summer and Fall, through their Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program. Overage is sold to local restaurants and at the Montgomery Curb Market on Saturdays. Sheila starts all of her plants from seed in a small greenhouse dedicated to transplant production. Their entering into their fifth year of production, over which time they have planted a wide variety of fruit trees, integrated free-range chickens and Large Black Hogs into their farm, built an NRCS-EQIP funded hoop house to extend the fall season past frost and to begin tomatoes early, installed a solar powered well, and built a walk-in and wash/packing area using repurposed materials.
Light refreshments will be provided.
