Calling all Producers with Livestock or Fruit/Vegetable Operations
Join us to hear about free programs, resources and services offered for producers. Learn how to write a successful grant proposal, identify what food safety certifications exist and what they mean for producers. Get to know what the 5 C’s of credit are and how FSA uses them in our loan making decisions, gain knowledge on the NRCS EQIP ranking process and much more.
The workshop is free and open to all producers or potential producers. Each event will cover the same information, so feel free to register for the event closest to you.
FSA – Farm programs and loans – 1 hour
FSA Loan Team – Discuss the 5 C’s of credit and how this plays into the final loan decision and conducting a couple of farm loan group exercises – 1 hour and 30 minutes
NASS – What is NASS and how the agriculture survey’s/census play into the large scope of USDA – 30 minutes
RD – VAPG and REAP – 1 hour
NRCS – Explaining how EQIP scores/ranks are obtained for applications, discussing what the resource concerns are, what practices fit into each resource concern and discussing NRCS program availabilities/deadlines, etc… – 1 hour and 30 minutes
RMA – Explaining and providing examples/details on Whole Farm Revenue Protection Program – 30 – 45 minutes (waiting on confirmation of attendance)
ACES – Discuss the basic requirements of Harmonized GAP and also what the differences between GAP, GHP, HGAP, and FSMA are, what resources exist for producers to get assistance in preparing for these certifications and explaining what a certification in these areas may mean for a producer, in terms of their ability to sell and market their products – 1 hour
Department of Ag and Industries – Costs of Harmonized GAP, in-depth recordkeeping requirements for this certification, best practices, and an explanation of what an audit for Harmonized GAP certification would look like – 1 hour
Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) – How Farm to School Request for Proposals (75% grant) are ranked/scored and what they are looking for in a well written grant and discuss the process for accepting EBT/SNAP benefits from your farm/farmers market, how long reimbursement takes, etc… – 1 hour and 30 minutes (waiting for final confirmation of the EBT/SNAP benefits segment)
