Hosted by Pecan Point Farm, Dairy and Creamery:
Want to learn how to make milk kefir, that cultured, creamy product with amazing health attributes? This workshop will cover the health benefits and learn to make kefir and keep it going. Each participant will receive their own start of kefir grains to take home. Once you attend this workshop, all you will need to do is add milk and let the fermentation begin!
The workshop will also cover making ricotta cheese. Ricotta is an easy-to- make (and fairly quick) cheese that is made with readily available ingredients. Workshop participants will get to sample some ricotta and take some home (containers provided). Participants will also take home some kefir grains, so please bring a glass pint jar to take your kefir grains home in.
Cost $25 (includes kefir grains to take home)
Time is 2 pm to 4 pm CST (3 pm to 5 pm EST).
Note: Aunt Sarah’s house is a turn of the century home in Hurtsboro that is a part of the farm, though not on the farm acreage. If any of the workshop participants would like a short farm tour following the classes, Farmer George has offered to show you around. Please just mention it prior to the class.
Class size is very limited. Please register as early as possible.
