Over the past few months, groups in Barbour and Bullock Counties have been working on creating
farmer cooperatives in the area. While we are still in the planning phases of the project, we would like as many farmers as possible who would be interested in taking part in this project to join us at 5:30 September 20 at Clayton Dime Store 10 Eufaula Ave., Clayton, AL 36016. Address is 276 AL-239, Clayton, AL 36016.

We will introduce the concept of the food aggregation center and farmers cooperative, food safety
considerations, organizational structure for the organization, produce considerations, and potential partnerships with Auburn University’s Campus Dining program and other organizations that are looking for local produce. We will also hear from Natalie Bishnoi, who has been successfully operating a similar organization in North Alabama.

Our purpose is to develop a sustainable regional network for farmers that will provide a variety of
local fresh foods to consumers, restaurants, grocery stores, and schools.

To register for this meeting please call 334-687-5688 before September 17. Dinner will be
provided.
