From the organizers:

Learn about backyard chicken processing, what procedures to use and why. We will discuss how to turn a live chicken into a whole carcass ready for the freezer or the dinner table.

Hands-On Processing: This is your chance to put your classroom learning to work. We will start with live chickens and you will have the opportunity to participate in every stage of the
process including slaughter, scalding, defeathering, evisceration, and chilling.

Registration: Please call Marengo County Extension Office at (334) 295-5959 to register. Pre-registration is required and due by Tuesday, October 22.

Space is limited to 20 participants. First come, first served. There will be a 1-hour lunch break and it’s included in the cost of the event!
