From the organizers:
We are pleased that this event is being hosted by Galloway Family Farm in Ocean Springs, MS. Galloway Family Farm has been in operation for more than 50 years, growing many varieties and unique crops, including Paw Paw, Japanese Plum Trees; banana, and kiwi; to hold a niche market on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
Galloway Family Farm was started in the late 1960’s by Calvin Galloway. As the farm name implies, they are primarily an education and training “Family Farm” where they grow their own food, and teach others to “Do For Yourself”. They train others to turn their piece of land, no matter the size, into an edible landscape with their family. At Galloway Family Farm some activities include, farm tours; hosting special events like school field trips, church picnics, and public speaking events; on site and remote square foot, container and in ground garden training. Their core philosophy is an old adage from Calvin’s mother, Emma Lee Galloway, “Always plant a Garden and raise animals on YOUR land, you may not eat what you want to… BUT you will never see a hungry day!”
