Hosted by the Alliance for Sustainable Agriculture Production:

The Alliance hosts monthly workshops at their demonstration farm in Goodman, MS.  Workshops are free but pre-registration is required!

In June the Alliance is pleased to be partnering again with the Southern Sustainable Agriculture Working Group (Southern SAWG). The topic will include: “Growing Farm Profits”.

This is Part II of the Growing Farm Profits Training. This is field training for horticultural farmers who are ready to take steps to improve farm profits. Producing great crops is not enough to ensure that your farm will be economically viable. You need to know how to increase profits!

Our workshop leader will be Ellen Polishuk. Ellen is a long-time Virginia vegetable grower, whose farm served as a case study during our first training session. She shared real-life farm data and how to use that data to make decisions that improve profitability. This time she will focus on practical applications of profit management and decision-making in the field.

Participants will have an opportunity to discuss practical strategies with this national expert and local farmers. Participants will also tour two local farms that are implementing these strategies. This training will not focus on how to produce, but will demonstrate how decisions in the field can impact profits.

Experts from Mississippi State University Extenson Service, Mississippi Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station, and Alcorn State University Extension Program will participate and help to continue training for local farmers.

There is NO COST to attend this event, but PRE-REGISTRATION is required! LUNCH will be provided. Bring hats and be ready to spend the day in the field studying two farm operations.
